Elders, frybread, stickgames, pow wow!
This week our classroom activities included elders sharing and Mrs. Ives, Marion Ives's mother, made frybread for everyone.
On Wednesday, our first stick game tournament began, hosted by the eighth grade culture class under the direction of Marion Ives. Drew helped with the song and drumming and Josh kept everything fair and organized.
Also on Wednesday, our fall Pow Wow captured the hearts of observers and dancers as the drum beat carried the song for dancers to express their best efforts.
In the writing classroom, we began our "Where I'm From" poem prewriting.
Every day students could share their culture and history.
